ID’S JOE MCGLUWA SAYS ‘SAFA HAS SCORED AN OWN GOAL WITH APPOINTMENT OF BAFANA COACH’

‘SAFA must put country first and stop with its shenanigans,’ says ID leader

Joe Mcgluwa, the ID Spokesperson for Sport, has called on Safa ‘to put the country first’ when it comes to the appointment of South Africa’s national coach.

This call comes after SAFA’s announcement on Thursday that the appointment of the new coach had been referred to Safa’s technical committee.

‘I find it difficult to understand why Pitso Mosimane, groomed for 4 years and a former caretaker coach of Bafana, has not yet been announced as the new coach,’ Mr Mcgluwa says.

‘I am sure that the people of South Africa are tired of Safa’s corner shop mentality. Instead of Pitso being called in like a child to explain his plan, Safa must make known their 4-year contingency plan and programs for the under- 17,20 and 23 national squads.

‘In late October last year Safa’s President Kirsten Nemantandani appointed a three-man “assessment team” (the Three Musketeers) comprising of Jomo Sono, Clive Barker and Gavin Hunt, to assess Bafana Bafana’s performance and come up with suggestions on ways to improve it. These findings have never been made known to the public and instead Joel Santana was inexplicably fired,’ says Mcgluwa.

‘We can only hope that Safa’s Technical Committee consisting of “the suspicious trio” will stop their shenanigans, put the country first and start making striking decisions for our country.’
