Fast Facts for Local Government - July 2011
Following the local government election on 18 May, the final results have been released. The African National Congress (ANC) and the Democratic Alliance (DA) received the highest and second highest proportions of votes. The ANC won 63% and the DA 24%. The remaining 13% was shared by the other parties. The voter turnout was 57.6%, the highest it has been in any local election since 1994.
